New vocalist
demo-- Aflame
The outstanding Christian rock band Aflame
recorded both of their two full-length CD self-releases at Raptor Studios: "The Goods"
(1997) and "In My House" (1999). Following the release
of "In My House," the band did some internal reshuffling,
which resulted in band member Scott Flaten stepping up to handle
the majority of the lead vocal duties. Scott came back into the
studio to record his lead vocals to the existing tracks. Producer/engineer
Mike Coates mixed and mastered the resulting
demo and the band is currently pitching their updated materials,
including a full press kit designed and compiled by Linda
Coates, to Christian labels. |

Six-song demo-- Raven Darkcloud
Raven Darkcloud, a 32-year-old singer-songwriter originally
from North Chicago, has recorded his debut CD at Raptor Studios.
Produced by Mike Coates, the six-song
disc, titled "Crazy Crazy World," includes five original
songs and one cover, the Lennon/McCartney classic "You've
Got to Hide Your Love Away." The disc captures Raven's "organic
folk rock" style which takes inspiration from classic rock
and transforms it into his intense, street-influenced style of
acoustic solo live performance. Catch Raven in performance around
the Fargo-Moorhead area at venues including Babb's Coffeehouse,
Red Bear Tavern, Fargo Cork and Bertrosa's Chicago-style Deli. |

Two-song songwriter demo-- Chris DeSherlia
It's a familiar story -- a Nashville producer, publisher, artist
or A&R person heard your song and wants a demo to pitch as
soon as possible because the artist is in the studio...Fortunately,
we were able to fit Chris into the studio to record his two songs
before our next album client (and just days before his first
baby was born!). |

Two-song vocal
demo -- Becky Gulsvig
Becky Gulsvig, 18, is familiar to Fargo-Moorhead arts patrons
as a perennial Trollwood Performing Arts School leading lady,
Red River Dance & Performing Company principal dancer, Moorhead
High School music standout, and much more. She recorded a personal
demo in the spring of 2000 to shop to production companies in
New York and, just weeks after arriving in the Big Apple, she
landed the role of Wendy in a touring off-Broadway production
of "Peter Pan." Read the story by arts columnist Tom
Pantera in the Forum (Fargo-Moorhead's daily newspaper) here. |

Hometown Christmas -- Pat Koenig

1997 Red River Valley flood relief. Donors to the project included
Raptor Studios, musicians Sheila Childs, Mike Coates, Linda Coates
and Debora Harris, Precision Powerhouse duplicating in Minneapolis,
Litho Express printing in St. Paul, and MAG Media Productions
in Ft. Wayne, IN. |

Songwriting demo-- Shane Lamb
Former student, good friend, colleague, all partially describe
our fond connection with this fine musician and songwriter. When
the skunk decided to abandon our fair Fargo-Moorhead community
and head for Nashville with paramour and Barking Dog Records
artist Lisa Briggs, we grudgingly sent
him on his way with demo in hand of all the outstanding work
he had compiled during his years at Moorhead State University.
Good luck, compadre... |
